The 2018 line-up for the Glasgow Film Festival was unveiled this evening, running from February 21st to March 4th and encompassing some 330 separate events. Doctor Who and Guardians of the Galaxy star Karen Gillan will be present for the premiere of her new film (and directorial debut), The Party’s Just Beginning, not a fantastic genre offering, but it’s Karen so I am sure lots of fans will want to support her (David Tennant will also be attending for the premiere of his new romcom You, Me and Him, Who fans!). For animation fans the festival opens with Wes Anderson’s new animated Isle of Dogs (which I am so looking forward to), acclaimed screenwriter Mari Okada’s animated directorial debut with the fantasy Let’s Decorate the Promised Flowers in the Farewell Morning (Sayonara no Asa ni Yakusoku no Hanao Kazarou).

Also on the anime front there’s a premiere for Mary and The Witch’s Flower, the first film by Studio Ghibli alum’s Studio Ponoc, while more genre offerings include the film adaptation of League of Gentlemen creator Jeremy Dyson and Andy Nyman’s West End stage smash hit Ghost Stories as part of the Fright Fest strand of horror flicks. The full programme went live this evening so check it all out on the GFF website. The tickets go on sale from January 29th, so get planning on your viewing schedule now!
