The Phoenix – USA

For us here in the UK we know all about the great kids comic, The Phoenix. And here on the FPI Blog, we’ve been telling you all about it ever since that very first issue came out. David Fickling and the editorial team, together with a fine group of artists and writers have been making a phenomenally good comic, delighting children every week.

But this week there’s fabulous news coming from The Phoenix. Scholastic in the USA has announced that they’ll be releasing digital editions of the weekly comic alongside collected print versions twice a year. Now Scholastic know a thing or two about what makes a successful children’s comic, with Jeff Smith’s Bone and various books from Raina Telgemeier topping bestseller lists all over the world. So with this tie-up of Scholastic and The Phoenix, we can only hope and expect things to get bigger and better for the UK’s best kids comic. And it couldn’t happen to a more deserving crew. Congratulations to all involved.

The digital editions are available right now, with the entire back catalogue and new issues available online. The first of the bi-annual collected editions will be released next March as The Phoenix Colossal Comics Collection: Volume One.

And as you’d expect… the news came with its own comic, art by Jamie Smart:
