Pronatopia will move you

Dutch designer and cartoonist Andre Bergs is a generous man. He’s giving away his new comic, Pronatopia, for free. Pronatopia is a digital comic, that takes advantage of the various features of a mobile device like a tablet or a phone. Not only does its interface allow you to zoom into every panel separately, the images also move according to how you hold the device. And as the comic’s story takes place on a boarding vessel during the Normandy landing, this adds for some spectacular insights.

The story of this short comic is something else entirely. Based on the theory that a predator will not be able to see what he doesn’t know or doesn’t expect, a hapless group of soldiers decides to dress up as clowns and thus escape certain annihilation. And even though the theory may sound solid in a philosophical sense, its practical application leaves something to be desired.

Pronatopia is a remarkable comic, not only because of the sheer technical prowess of its creator, but also for the thought-provoking message. My only gripe is that it’s a bit short.

Pronatopia is available for iOS and Android devices from their respective online stores, free of charge. Bear in mind that it’s quite a sizable file.
