Comics: Small Press Day in Glasgow!

Published On May 9, 2017 | By Joe Gordon | Comics, Conventions and events, News

The first Small Press Day last year took place in comics shops, libraries and venues up and down the whole of the country and celebrated the incredibly rich and diverse UK Indy comics creators. I’m glad to see that Small Press Day is returning this summer, and following a great time with the event last year, Forbidden Planet Glasgow is organising another bash this year – and even better, our friends in one of Glasgow’s great “people’s palaces”, the wonderful Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum (currently hosting a cracking exhibition of Frank Quitely’s comic artwork) are joining with us to host the event.

Kelvingrove has been a hub of history, culture and art for Glaswegians for generations, most in the city have grown up with visits to Kelvingrove’s beautiful red-stone structure, it’s a major hub of culture in the city and as such it’s a fabulous venue to celebrate the creativity of small press comickers. Small Press Day 2017 takes place on Saturday July 8th, and the FP Glasgow event at Kelvingrove will take place that day from 11 to 4pm, please do come along and enjoy a terrific day out and support out Indy comics creators. You can get in touch with FP Glasgow via their own Facebook and their Twitter feed, and check out the official Small Press Day site for details of events around the UK.
