Best selling book in Belgium is a comic

Published On September 20, 2017 | By Wim | Comics, Continental Correspondent, the Flemish trade organisation for the book production and book selling business, has published its yearly figures on book sales in Flanders (which, if you don’t know, is the Dutch speaking part of Belgium, my home country).

Overall figures remain stable, mostly thanks to a seven percent rise in sales for non fiction books (mostly food related titles), which almost makes up for a similar decline in literature, children’s books and comics.

Comics sales are down by seven percent, but the best selling book of the year so far, is still a comic book: Nepwerk (or Fake Work), the latest installment in Robert Merhottein’s long-running and very successful series, De Kiekeboes.
