Comics: Metaphrog release trailer for The Little Mermaid

One of my very favourite creative duos, Glasgow-based Metaphrog (winner of the 2016 Sunday Herald Scottish Culture Awards for the Best Visual Artist), have a second graphic novel coming from Papercutz, following their utterly gorgeous adaptation of The Red Shoes and Other Stories. Another fairy tale with a dark undercurrent (pun not intended) inspired by the great Hans Christian Andersen’s story of The Little Mermaid. I absolutely fell in love with their Red Shoes book, it made my Best of the Year list for 2015 (and hats off to Papercutz who published it in such a handsome edition – the Little Mermaid looks to be in the same attractive format), and I am looking forward to reading The Little Mermaid when it is published by Papercutz in April 2017. I strongly suspect that, like The Red Shoes (reviewed here) it will be an enchanting delight for younger readers (I am also sure like The Red Shoes it will be far too nice for just kids and we adults will need to sneak a read too). You can read Metaphrog’s recent guest Best of the Year selection here on the blog; meantime, here’s a little trailer to whet our appetites for The Little Mermaid:
