Webcomic Weekly – Rina Ayuyang

Another Webcomic Weekly, another slight cheat… but what the hell. It’s a comic, it’s online. It’s counting. So there.

For a week in August, The Comics Journal had Rina Ayuyang providing a daily strip. This was most definitely a good thing (thanks to Matt Badham for the nod) as her work is just damn great, reminding me greatly of an older set of female cartoonists, the Douchet / Gregory sort of look, messy, chaotic, brilliantly vibrant. Just like this… Day 1

Yes, that is rather impressive, don’t you agree? There’s much more to be seen across the five days, much more.

Rina Ayuyang is a cartoonist/publisher from Oakland in the US. You might already know of her from the quite brilliant “Beginning’s End”, published by Mutha Magazine and nominated for an Eisner Award for Best Short Story.
