The FPI Master List 2014
Here we go then, as a capper to our regular December Best Of Year season I like to tie it all up in a little bow, collating all of the picks from the great and the good of comics and presenting them here.
Except this year I thought twice about it. Each year we actually get a more and more diverse list of comics from our respondents and this year it hit something of a tipping point. Over the years it’s been a familiar-ish pattern to see a group of titles garnering more votes than others, but this year it looked for all the world as if we’d have a master list that was just that, a list of single picks with a couple of titles on two picks. As it is, after a month of picks, we have a winner with 4 votes, a second with 3 votes, 7 comics on 2 votes and then everything else…. weird year.
Again, this is all actually a good thing, as it just means we’re in the midst of a great time of diversity and variety in comics with a huge amount of great comics published in any month and a practically unreadable number of great books published in a year. Good times one and all.
As with last year, we forced people to chose 3 comics/books/graphic novels/whatever we’re calling them now just so the end tallying would make sense. We had 27 respondents nominating 63 different comics (I’ll post the full list of titles in the comments later).
Here we go then…. the FPI Master List 2014, the best of the best…..
The winner, 4 votes…
Coming in second with 3 votes….
