Comics: “Mom Body”

Published On June 2, 2015 | By Joe Gordon | Comics

GUTS magazine has an excellent online comic from Rebecca Roher, Mom Body, following not just a story about a friend becoming pregnant and giving birth, but going into detail about the remarkable (and I’d imagine often bewildering for the woman undergoing them) series of changes her body has to undergo in order to sustain and nurture new life then to actually give birth, and the after-effects of all those physiological changes can have on both body and mind and emotions, demonstrating, as Roher puts it, that “moms are tough as f**k” (plus, even after all our creation puts them through, mums still love us forever afterwards, which has to be as amazing as the way their bodies transform for birth). (thanks to Maura McHugh for the link)
