The first trailer for the Constantine series, based on the DC/Vertigo character from Hellblazer John Constantine, created by Alan Moore, Steve Bissette and John Totleben, has been released, and I think it looks pretty interesting. And it’s also nice to see unlike the dire movie version they haven’t changed him to a dark-haired American who looks rather like Keannu… The show, starring Matt Ryan as John Constantine, is due to air on NBC in the US this autumn, still waiting on a UK airdate, hopefully someone will pick it up soon. I think the fact they’ve kept important elements from early Hellblazer, such as the fact Constantine damned an innocent soul, is a good indicator that unlike that film version this is being written by people who have paid at least some attention to the source material – then again with David S Goyer and Neil Marshall involved that shouldn’t be a surprise (they’re fellow geeks, after all). Sudden urge to go back and read some early Jamie Delano Hellblazer…

I don’t know, a dark-haired American who looks rather like Keanu was/is no more cheesy than a fair-haired Cockney who looks rather like Sting.
