I should pay more attention to Project: Rooftop than I do (but there’s only 26 hours in a day). For those of you who don’t know, it’s a comic book fashion type blog, that runs regular costume redisign comps.
The latest one to rejig the Spidey costume left me a little cold – too much sticking to the classic costume, or making it ugly with sleek lines or bumpy armoured bits… of the top three, only this (third) from Rosy Higgins really worked, something suitably teen and DIY:
And from the post I originally saw… here’s the UK’s own Adam Cadwell…. again, we’re back with the DIY aesthetic.
It’s one of those pointless projects in a way I suppose. After all, this is a perfect costume:
Perfect style, yet looking lightweight, has that little bit of a DIY aspect to it. Or at least that’s what I always thought as a kid, as I regularly saw Peter Parker having to stuff the whole thing in a holdall, or getting it ripped to pieces in some fight or other – I had the idea that this would be the sort of thing anyone could make. And maybe that’s why two of the three caught my eye?
