ElfQuest fan trailer & SDCC panel

Published On July 21, 2011 | By Richard Bruton | Comics, Film TV & Theatre

You might remember last autumn we blogged about a new addition to the growing field of fan films, the increasingly professional looking not-for-profit works some fans are filming based on some of their favourite series, this time it was web film veterans Stephanie Thorpe and Paula Rhodes and Co who were trying to raise funds to make a fan film trailer for longtime fan-fave comic ElfQuest (see here). In fact they presented such a good case for making it and so much enthusiasm that ElfQuest creators Richard and Wendy Pini gave their blessing to the project and even donated some original art to help raise the funds to make the trailer. Well, the trailer is up and looking fab, while Stephanie tells us that this Friday at the San Diego Comic Con (SD Convention Center, room 4, 8pm) she and Paula will take part in a panel discussion along with Richard and Wendy Pini on the subject of “the changing landscape of fan fiction, social media, and the web”, while the Pinis will also be sharing some never seen before ElfQuest art and news. Stephanie is also involved with the series Shelf Life (which also involves comics scribe Paul Jenkins as director), which will debut at San Diego, so maybe give them some support if you’re lucky enough to be there.
