Best Of The Year – Dave Hopkins, Manager Nostalgia & Comics

Published On January 11, 2011 | By Joe Gordon | Best of the Year 2010, Comics

A second best of the year today from my favourite comic shop in the world; Nostalgia & Comics Birmingham. And even though I’m very┬ábiased, having worked there, man and boy, for 19 years up until 2006 when we moved up here to Yorkshire, I think the recent refit and a renewed concentration in the store on comics and graphic novels has made the place better than ever. (And if you don’t believe me – see the recent pics here)

Anyway, Dave came up with three of his absolute faves for the year, and then, as is the way for those of you contributing to the best of year series – decided to cheat and add a couple of extra:

Parker: The Outfit by Darwyn Cooke (IDW)

Bullet To The Head by Matz and Colin Wilson (Dynamite)

Comes out in collected form in February – I’ll certainly be having a look at it when it does, having missed it in the comics.

Scalped written by Jason Aaron and art by R.M. Guera, Davide Furno and Danijel Zezelj (DC/Vertigo)

With all three N&C entries to the best of year list mentioning Scalped it’s definitely the #1 at the store!

The Walking Dead by Robert Kirkman and Charlie Adlard (Image)

XIII by Jean Van Hamme and William Vance (Cinebook)
