Boxes Redux – Bulkhead

Published On August 12, 2008 | By Joe Gordon | Comics, Reviews

Back in April I reviewed Ciaran Cross’ Bulkhead: Boxes; an online pdf collecting the first few pages of his comics project Bulkhead. He finished it a while ago, printed it up  and was kind enough to send it along to me.

I’ve read the whole thing now and have to say I’m very impressed. He’s really moved the story on from the preview I reviewed and it’s a far more satisfying whole. On an artistic note, something I didn’t really notice before when looking at his art, but one of the really obvious artistic influences is Oscar Zarate. Very nice indeed.
Anyway, Matthew’s website and blog has much more. Bulkhead can be ordered via paypal from here for just £3 including p&p.

On his blog there’s also a mention of his next project; The Salient Yellow. He describes it as:

Call it… something like:
Philip K. Dick and Devendra Banhart retell the alternative death story of Tony Hancock,
the murder of Jean Charles de Menezes, the race for space and the race for space for race…
