Amber Benson appearing at FPI

Published On September 11, 2007 | By Joe Gordon | Conventions and events, Film TV & Theatre

I’m delighted to say that Amber Benson – probably best known (and beloved for) her portrayal of Tara, friend, witch and chief romantic squeeze for Willow in Joss Whedon’s brilliant Buffy the Vampire Slayer series – will be making some personal appearances in several of the Forbidden Planet International stores later this month as she promotes her latest film, Lovers, Liars & Lunatics, which the multi-talented Amber wrote, produced and directed as well as appearing in (she also raised some of the finance to make the movie by selling special edition Tara figures – there’s a great write up on this and the film, plus links to clips and more here). The film will be available to buy (priced £20) and Amber will be signing copies of the DVD at the event.

    Please do one in Belfast!!!!!

  2. charlotte says:

It says a charge will be made for autographs… any idea how much? 😛

  3. Joe says:

Charlotte, sorry, that was an error and shouldn’t have been on there, there WON’T be a charge for autographs, I’m pleased to say.

Sadly I don’t think Belfast is on the cards this time round (I’m sad she won’t be at the Edinburgh store either, I’d love to meet her – staff who met her before said she is the loveliest guest to have)

  4. Cat says:

er… there’s not gonna be one in London? do you know if she has any appearances planned here?

  5. Hadie says:

Hiii, I’ve been dying to see the film, will you be selling the dvd at the stores during the signing? (So I can buy it and get it signed by the lovely Amber)?

  6. BelfastFan says:

    Please come to Belfast!!!

  7. Joe says:

The DVD will indeed be on sale at the signings and will cost £20 – Amber should be signing those for fans on the day

  8. Mikey_H says:

    That good to hear

Listen if I phoned the store up tomorrow do you think there will still be tickets left if I was to go to the one in Liverpool on Thursday, presuming you need a ticket that is.

  9. Joe says:

No need to worry, the event isn’t ticketed, it is just a case of turning up and waiting in line to bask in the glow of Amber’s presence

  10. Tace says:

Will she only be signing her DVD?

  11. Joe says:

Tace, no, she will also be signing autographs as well

  12. Destructo says:

Hi, do you know if Amber will sign people’s own buffyverse merch like Dvds etc?

  13. Destructo says:

I forgot to ask also, do you have to buy the dvd of her movie?

  14. Joe says:

There’s no obligation to buy the DVD, although obviously its release is one of the things Amber is promoting while she is here. As for signing other material, at such events it tends to be down to the guest – some will, some may prefer to stick to certain items, you would have to ask at the event on that score really.

  15. Destructo says:

Thanks for your quick reply Joe, Im headed to the signing in Liverpool later today 🙂

  16. Mikey_H says:

Do you think it looks a bit ignorant though if I don’t buy the DVD, I might buy it but haven’t got that much money.

  17. Tace says:

Mikey_H, that’s what I was thinking about. £20 is alot for a DVD, but I’d worry about being cheeky enough to get her autograph without it.

  18. Joe says:

That’s something you’d have to work out on the day really, but I’m sure she understands not everyone has the luxury of buying DVDs whenever they want.

  19. Mikey_H says:

I met her today and she was great, she was really kind and very talkative, I would love to meet her again in the future!

  20. Damien says:

I met her (again) in Cardiff and she was as lovely as ever. Hope to see her again sometime.
