Boldly going

You could have mistaken Edinburgh’s FPI branch on Southbridge for the Fringe headquarters of Starfleet Command on Monday afternoon, with the store filled with red, blue and gold uniforms of a very familiar design as we played host to a delightful Trek-themed signing event.

As we mentioned a few posts back, the award-winning actress Bari Hochwald is in town, performing her own play Net Worth on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Joining Bari, who has multiple Star Trek roles on her impressive resume in addition to a slew of other stage, film and television roles were the cast of I Am Star Trek, an affectionate and comedic look back over the life and works of Gene Rodenberry. It marks a triumphant return for the show which made a big splash at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2001.

I Am Star Trek is on at the Pleasance Dome until the 29th of August (except for the 16th) each evening – full details can be found here. Bari’s Net Worth is at Venue 28, Greyfriar’s Studio 2, Greyfriar’s Kirkhouse (about 5 minutes from the Edinburgh FPI) and runs until the 21st of August – full details here.

In fact Bari has her opening show this very day so the Edinburgh FPI crew would like to wish both her and the I Am Star Trek cast the best for a successful Fringe run and thank them for generously spending time with our regular customers and ourselves. And for all those living in or visiting Edinburgh here are two choice acts for you to take in on the packed Fringe!
